In 1882 Ariste Calame first set up workshop to produce specialized watches that later became known as Zodiac. In 1930 Zodiac patented a unique shock proofing system that utilized a z-shaped spring clip over the balance. Zodiac also launched one of the first Swiss automatic watches.
